Mr. Robinson’s new neighborhood?

By BRUCE LOWITT

Mark Robinson, facing multiple controversies over his alleged inflammatory comments on a porn site a decade ago and the resignation of all of his top campaign aides, withdrew Thursday from the North Carolina gubernatorial race and announced his candidacy to replace New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

I’m sick of all the shit I hear about my so-called support of slavery and my supposedly calling myself a black NAZI and enjoying tranny porn,” the Republican North Carolina lieutenant governor said. “Besides, at least I haven’t been federally indicted – not yet, anyway – so there’s that.”

Adams, who might resign as mayor or be removed by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, faces five federal counts including bribery and wire fraud in an indictment unsealed Friday.

According to the New York City charter, Jumaane Williams, the city’s public advocate, would replace Adams, “but I’m way bigger and way louder than him,” Robinson said, “and that’s what you need in a New York mayor. I’ll sit down with Hackle … uh, Hotshi- … whatever her name is and work things out.”

Robinson was trailing Democratic candidate Josh Stein, North Carolina’s attorney general, by 11 points before a CNN investigation revealed his seemingly insane behavior. Now his average deficit in unofficial polls is between 71 and 82 percent.

The former Yolanda Deschelle Hill, Robinson’s wife since 1990, had campaigned for him until last week, when she told WRAL news radio, “Holy fuck! If I’d known all that crap I’d never have gone out with him, never mind having two kids with him.” She also said she’d be voting for Stein, “and, y’know, he’s kinda cute, not like the 250-pound cow that steals the sheets every night.”

Former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, who had strongly endorsed Robinson as recently as a week ago, calling him “Martin Luther King on steroids,” hedged when asked if he still supported him. “Robinson? Robinson? The name sounds familiar. Let me get back to you on that.”

But Trump’s vice presidential running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Shameless, voiced strong support for Robinson.

“Anybody who can say and do so many dumb things that the media ignores me for a few days, I’m all for him,” Vance said. “With any luck, we’ll find out he eats cats or is a pedophile or a necrophiliac or something.”
