Rudy Giuliani, the disgraced former lawyer for disgraced former president Donald Trump, claimed today that the loss by Serena and Venus Williams at the U.S. Open “was rigged, and I’ve got the balls to prove it.”
The Williams sisters, winners together of 14 doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals, were defeated 7-6, 6-4 Thursday night in women’s doubles by Czech teammates Lucie Hradecka and Linda Nosvkova, who insisted they had no knowledge of Giuliani’s allegations.
“Není to ten muž, kterému říkají děravý právník? A je vyloučen, že?” the 17-year-old Noskova asked. (“Isn’t he the man they call a leaky lawyer? And he’s disbarred, isn’t he?”)
Serena Williams, prior to what is likely the final match of her extraordinary 27-year career, losing Friday to Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic, said rumors of impropriety “had no impact on me or Venus when we played Lucie and Linda. They just outplayed us.”
“But I’ll say this,” Venus Williams chimed in. “I have a suggestion for that guy with teeth that look like the ugliest wall on the border. He might want to spend more time looking for a real lawyer to keep him out of jail.”
Giuliani acknowledged he has been suspended but not disbarred from practicing law in New York for having made false and misleading statements as the former president’s attorney “but that has nothing to do with this obviously massive fraud.”
“Take a look at these,” he said, brandishing a pair of yellow Wilson US Open tennis balls with brown liquid dripping down the sides. “These are … oh, wait, these are my balls.”
He then pulled out two other balls which he claimed were “shaved like crooked dice, so they wouldn’t go straight,” but he refused to allow anyone to examine his balls for evidence of mishandling.
Giuliani said he also was in contact with Sidney Powell, another former lawyer for Trump, and My Pillow executive Mike Lindell to discuss how to seize Hawk-Eye machines used at the U.S. Open for line-calling.
He claimed the devices were tampered with “by eastern Europeans, or maybe the Chinese or Russians or Cubans or Iranians or Yemenians or Afghanites” to enable Hradecka and Noskova to win their match.
“Powell and Lindell are experts in these kinds of things,” Giuliani said. “Y’know, finding bad things where none exists.”
Powell, facing a massive defamation suit by Dominion Voting Systems for accusations made against it on behalf of the Trump campaign, said she will sue “whoever is the maker of the U.S. Open scoreboard to prove it falsely posted scores of the match. I’m sure we’ll be able to decertify the result.”
Lindell, facing a similar defamation suit, said he has “incontrovertible evidence that the two Czechoslovakians (sic) snuck illegal rackets into the match so they could overpower our aging stars. I’m going to give the Williams sisters my best pillows for life as soon as I prove my case.”
A source known to have hung around with the once-popular mayor of New York City and remains a close friend said Giuliani told him he had “bet a large seven figures on the match,” trying to make up for the attorney fees Trump said he’d pay him but never did.
“Rudy said the bet was a ‘sure thing’ but I guess it wasn’t,” the source said. “I think maybe he’s trying to weasel out of it. Like he hasn’t done that before, right?”
